These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of beforeUBuy ("the app"), operated by Phillip, an individual based in South Africa. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms.

1. What beforeUBuy does

beforeUBuy lets you photograph a product you're considering buying — a vehicle, phone, appliance, or similar — and uses AI to identify the product and surface commonly known issues, so you can make a more informed purchase decision.

2. Important: this is informational, not professional advice

• A professional pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic, technician, or relevant expert
• Manufacturer recall checks through official channels
• Your own due diligence before making a purchase

AI-generated identifications and issue information may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. We do not guarantee the accuracy of any information provided by the app, and we are not liable for any purchasing decision you make based on it. Always use your own judgment and seek professional advice for significant purchases.

3. Your account

• You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
• You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account.
• You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) to use beforeUBuy.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Upload images that are explicit, violent, illegal, or otherwise inappropriate — these are automatically screened and blocked, and repeated attempts may result in account suspension
• Use the app to harass, defame, or harm any person or business
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract our product/issue database for commercial use without permission
• Use the app in any way that violates applicable law

5. Subscriptions and payment

• beforeUBuy offers a free tier with a limited number of scans per month, and a paid "Pro" subscription for unlimited scans.
• Subscriptions are billed and managed through Apple's App Store or Google Play, depending on your device. Pricing, billing cycles, and cancellation are governed by their respective terms.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date, via your App Store or Google Play account settings.
• We don't offer refunds directly — refund requests are handled by Apple or Google according to their own policies.

6. Shared content

When the app researches issue information for a product not yet in our database, that information becomes part of a shared knowledge base used to help other users who scan the same product. By using beforeUBuy, you understand and accept that this AI-researched information may be shown to other users.

7. Intellectual property

The beforeUBuy app, its design, logo, and underlying product/issue database are owned by us. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative products from our database without written permission.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, including repeated attempts to upload prohibited content. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, beforeUBuy and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to financial loss from a purchase decision made using information from the app.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you may have under the laws of your own country of residence.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the app evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
